Review:As I write this, we are still very much in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and I suspect that will still be the case come November. Here in The Buckeye State we have to request an absentee ballot by sending an application via USPS. Since I do not intend to go to the polls in person, I chose to replace my worthless, broken, 6 year old Canon inkjet printer so that I could print out the ballot application. The old inkjet actually stopped functioning properly a few years ago, and I had limped along during that time relying on the printers at work for all of my printing needs. However, I am now working from home for the foreseeable future and do not want to don a mask and drive into the office just to pick up a piece of paper. My only requirement: I was determined to have a laser printer. I've had a string of inkjets that all did a number of things, like make copies or scan documents. All of them were doomed to be mediocre at best at any task assigned to them, but the clincher is that they always stopped working after about 3 or 4 years. What's more, they are incredibly slow. The Canon for instance liked to spend about 2 full minutes making a bunch of noises, gears turning, beeps beeping, lights flashing, and that was before it even pulled a sheet of paper out of the tray. Once it finally started printing, it was like watching a JPEG download on dial-up. All that is to say that inkjets suck, and the old Canon has a date with my trusty metal bar a la the dreaded fax machine in the movie Office Space. This printer fit the bill for me. The bulk of my printing needs are things like the aforementioned ballot application, or airline boarding passes. For that reason, I don't really see a need for color unless you are doing graphics or photos. I also have a phone with an excellent camera. It can capably scan a document into PDF form, and I can print that PDF to my hearts content on my new laser printer. For that reason, I also saw no need to have a copier or scanner attached to my printer. This printer does the one thing I need it to do, and it does it fast. How fast, you ask? There is a span of about 1.5 seconds between hitting the print button and retrieving a completed printout from the printer. Perhaps this is average performance for a laser printer? Eh, what do I know? I mainly bought it because it had 5 star reviews and was pretty much the cheapest option. As for installation, I would recommend going to the Lexmark site first and downloading the documentation. The one page installation guide that comes in the box is clearly meant for an international audience (think IKEA), due to it being a series of slightly confusing pictographs that lacked any meaningful text instructions. If you want to print from any computer running windows 10 then you will want to go to the Lexmark site again, and download and install the driver first, presuming of course that you do not have a cd-rom drive to use the included install disk (it is 2020 after all). I tried installing without the installation software on my windows 10 desktop, and it inverted the color so that it printed a black background with white text. Obviously that will use up your toner in a hurry. My Macs on the other hand worked perfectly with AirPrint. Also, get the mobile app to set it up. The on-device interface is where I suspect they cut corners to get the price so low, and the app is faster and easier by far. Once you've done that, you can administer the printer settings via it's web server on a browser, which has no such shortcomings as the on-device interface. Last recommendation, setup security so your wannabe hacker neighbors don't decide to do it for you, and lock you out of your own printer. This printer is my first Lexmark, and it has exceeding my expectations so far. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a similar use case to mine. However the jury is still out on the longevity of the device, due to a lack of a sufficient amount of time passing or an ability to divine the future, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Read more

Review:In short: Great print Fast Difficult to set up Toner is HARD to find and is expensive In long: This printer is super fast! It takes only a few seconds to print each page and I love that it prints double sided super easily. It is also extremely easy to print from a smartphone, which has saved me because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install/download the needed software on my laptop. Without a CD/DVD port in your laptop, set up is extremely unclear and difficult... I still haven't figured it out! Also-- the toner it cartridge the laptop came with was running on "low" after only 1 week using the printer. I figured since it is just a starter cartridge that makes sense, but I had no idea how difficult it was going to be to find a replacement. They aren't sold on amazon that I could find (or anywhere else for that matter). I think I ordered the correct thing on the Lexmark website, but it cost me over $120. I personally can't afford a replacement cartridge every month at that price. On top of that, the website reads that there are only "5 items left in stock," which I assume is now 4 that I just ordered one. I am not sure what a customer is supposed to do if replacement toner is not available. Overall, I love the speed of the printer and the quality of the print, but the set up and expense is not feasible. I am sure there must be a better option out there. Read more

Review:I bought this printer last week for $234, it is now a lot less expensive (Amazon's policy is to not credit any change in price) First ,this is an excellent printer for home or small office use. It's fast, small , and has a one second startup time for first page. This does have a straight through feed for envelopes (nice feature). The touch screen is a bit of a challenge, but, after a few tries, you'll get it. Wireless, Ethernet, USB choice for connection. So, get this today before the price goes up again! Read more

Review:The printer itself is fine. Setting it up is hell. The idiots at Lexmark seem to look to IKEA as the gold standard for assembly instructions. If you want more details, you can go to the website and find the manual. That's better. You can also use their proprietary app, which would be fine if it actually worked. I spent more than an hour trying to set up the printer. I followed all the directions and got it connected to the wifi network easily enough, but when I tried to print I repeatedly got "Printer Unavailable" error messages. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, shut down and restarted my network, ran disk utilities on my computer, and moved the printer to within five feet of the router. So I called tech support. The good news: they answered the phone pretty quickly. The bad news: they couldn't figure it out. The worse news, after more than an hour of trying, I was told that my case was being escalated to Tier 2 and that I'd get a call back. No call back. I'm still waiting. Read more

Review:I’m only 40 pages into this new printer, and I’m am genuinely surprised at how good it is. I haven’t bought a Lexmark product in 20 years, basically sticking with HP, Canon, Brother, and Epson. Needed an inexpensive b/w printer for a vacation home. If you’ve used any on-printer menu, the setup is pretty easy. Entering my WiFi password was a bit cumbersome (mainly because it’s 32 characters long and includes symbols) but that’s the only downside. Adding the printer to my Mac via AirPlay was effortless, even though it was located on a different floor. The printer is also surprisingly fast. The job was finished before I walked downstairs. For the price, this is amazing! Read more

Review:Great little printer but omg was it a pain to set up! Took a combination of reading reviews here/ watching YT videos/ guessing. I don't have a CD drive or a printer cable so I needed to set it up over wifi. The key is to connect the printer to wifi first, but it is quite a feat with the tiny screen with one button. Gather your patience... Read more

Review:Lexmark B3340dw Monochrome Laser Printer with Wireless & Ethernet Capabilities, Two-Sided Printing is amazing. If you are looking for only monochrome (Black & White) printing, this laser printer is perfect and will save lots of ink cost of buying colour toners. In summary, It’s super-fast, have great hardware capabilities, great print capabilities and decent connectivity options, the set up was easy. Set up was quite easy and fast. As soon as I took it out of box, I realized that this printer is not very big and heavy and in fact light and compact for this type of multifunction printer. Overall hardware looks top notch. With recommended monthly page volume of 500-5000 pages, it is sufficient for busy home users, home offices or small businesses. It includes 1500 page Black Print Cartridge. With output up to 40 pages per minute and duplex printing will serve well most demanding users. You can connect with USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi to give both network and mobile users access. You can also add optional 550-sheet paper tray which will be great for small businesses. Print quality is sharp and crisp. Copy and Scan feature worked well. FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall, this is very capable and fast printer. Print and copy quality was good but not exceptional. Hardware is great. Included features are satisfactory. Read more
