Style Name: 1700-Watt Advanced Soleplate The exceptionally powerful Ultraglide FV4017 steam iron from industry-leader T-fal gets ironing quickly moved off your to-do list. With 1700 watts of steam power, the Ultraglide iron uses up to 50% more steam, making it easy to efficiently remove wrinkles from all types of fabric, including cotton, linen, silk, and wool—great for anything from blouses and blazers to work shirts, trousers, and table linen. The innovative iron’s enameled Durilium ceramic soleplate consists of an aluminum layer for evenly distributed heat and steam, an enamel layer for an ultra-superior smooth glide, and a precision-point tip for hard-to-reach areas. Even more, the ergonomic Ultraglide steam iron features an integrated steam trigger located on the underside of the handle, which requires nothing more than a press of the finger to release a powerful burst of steam (80-gram/min). Other highlights include vertical steam for hanging garments or drapes, an anti-drip system to prevent leaks or spitting at lower temperatures, an extra-large water inlet for convenient filling, and a self-cleaning system, as well as automatic shut-off for safety and peace of mind.

Review:Purchased two years ago. Has been lightly used and well cared for. Stopped heating. Clicking on the warranty in the Amazon product page for this T-fal FV4495 iron says this product has a LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY and gives a number to call for warranty repairs. According to the T-fal representative, the warranty for this iron and for all their electronic merchandise is only one year. They are refusing to honor the warranty they have posted on Amazon. If you purchase this, know that the posted warranty will not be honored by T-fal. Read more

Review:This is the most disappointing iron I've ever purchased. It initially looked like an absolute winner, with a heavy-feeling construction and knobs and buttons galore. Every aspect of it has some specialty name (Ultra-Glide Diffusion [TM], Easy-Cord [TM], etc.), which really makes you think it's been engineered to heck and back, the pinnacle of ironing technology. Boy, it's anything but that. For the first month, it seemed fine. Then, nearly all the markings wore off, making operation by memory a must. Not a major problem, right? Then, the steam started becoming less consistent. Annoying, but not a deal-breaker yet. And then, just when I was getting used to it not working well, it started leaking out of the base and cord pivot. And when I say "leaking," I really mean "constantly trickling out water while ironing and in storage." Soaked shirts, soaked ironing board, soaked shelf. I tried tightening the screws everywhere I could, and just as soon as I felt like I had it figured out, it would drench another shirt. I guess I should probably just dump it and buy a good iron from a different manufacturer, but man, does that ever leave a sour taste in my mouth not making T-fal stand behind their product. In the end, it's just not worth the warranty legwork for what may end up being a dead-end waste of time and cost more money. Don't trust the new-owner reviews, and don't buy into the "just use a towel" concessions. Look around and buy a decent iron elsewhere. Read more

Review:I’ve tried a half dozen different brands of steam irons, with little success until I ran across T-fal. Those other brands either produced very little steam, or spit and drained onto the clothes, sometimes leaving stains, and the biggest disappointment was Rowenta, which produced great steam but none of them lastest longer than a year—one quit working after a week!—in spite of being super expensive. Then I got my hands on a T-fal and it’s been a love affair for the last 10+ years. I don’t drain them after using them, I don’t clean them like I should, and yet they perform wonderfully for an average of about five years, and for a very reasonable price. I’ll keep buying them as long as they make them. Read more

Review:this is the message I received from t-fal to my complaint This iron spits water at all times, at all water levels, and all heat settings. and whenever used.....We use tap water unfiltered There are no warnings about how delicate these irons are and I do not intend on having the water tested T-fal now wants me to send to a repair center where they will evaluate it and let me know....... This iron spits water at all times, at all water levels, and all heat settings. and whenever used.....We use tap water unfiltered There are no warnings about how delicate these irons are and I do not intend on having the water tested Please advise Dear , Thank you for your email via T-falUSA.com. We received your e-mail at our corporate headquarters, and we thank you for your inquiry. We would like to offer some suggestions to help avoid spitting and dripping. Using the correct water is vital to the life of your iron. T-Fal irons are specially constructed to deal with normal levels of water hardness found in ordinary tap water (make sure the tap water is not filtered or softened in any fashion). If hard water is used, it will cause your iron to emit minerals from the soleplate. If the water in your area exceeds 12 grains of hardness per gallon, we recommend using an economical brand of spring water. Please contact your local water company to determine the water hardness. The use of 100%-distilled water should be avoided, due to the fact that it will only convert to steam at a higher temperature. Additionally, if 100%-distilled water is used in our irons you may encounter dripping, spitting and leaking. Always be sure when steam ironing, to follow the garment instruction label. Our irons are constructed to generate steam when the thermostat dial is set in the red, cotton, three dot setting. Delicate synthetics should be ironed on at the one dot setting. When set to a lower heat setting (lower than three dots), your iron could drip water resulting in water spots. If you desire a lower heat setting, turn the variable steam switch to below the minimum setting and use the atomized spray mist for added moisture when ironing. Overuse of the burst of steam feature can also cause the iron to spit and leave water spots. Be sure to wait several seconds in between bursts to avoid complications. Read more

Review:I loved all the advertised features of this iron - at first. Then it started to leak. Slightly unnerving, to say the least, to have a lot of water dripping on your hand while using an electrical appliance with high wattage! The puddles also ruin some fabrics. Still under warranty, I sent it to a certified T-Fal service shop. When they sent it back, it still leaked. I called, reiterated the problem. The serviceman said to return it and they would send me a new one, although he did sound very annoyed. Well, the new one worked fine for a while and then, guess what - the new one is now leaking!! Very inconvenient to have to send it for service, postage expensive and the whole experience a hassle. There is something very wrong with the design or manufacture here. If it didn't leak, it would be the best iron ever, but, alas, it does leak. I would not recommend this product. Read more

Review:I bought this iron, thinking I was getting a brand new item in the manufacturer's packaging. What I received, was a dirty, used, water drops in the water tank, iron in a beat up box that looked like someone dug it out of their hoarder's mess. Had I wanted a crappy used iron I would have gone to a garage sale. Read more

Read more

Read more
