Review:Reviews sometimes make purchasing an item even more complex. A review should be about the quality, price, and any details that may help the customer with that specific item. Like you, I was hesitant about purchasing these “smart plugs” because of all the questionable reviews. I did not want the hassle of having to return the item, as that process has also become too complex. I received my box of four smart plugs which incidentally are extremely similar to all the other smart plugs on the market. Reason being, they are all mostly made in China. The packaging was actually very nice. Each plug had its own secure section as well as a protective plastic covering over the actual plug itself. Though I don’t like wasteful packaging these “smart plugs” were very “smart packaged”. You probably have read loads of complaints regarding the ridiculously small instructions. My eyes are good however I can completely understand how many would need a super magnifying glass to read this manual. I could read the instructions however this company needs to hire me, or someone else, to create an easy to read, (with photos), instruction sheet. For this reason I thought I would take a minute and explain, in detail, how to install the plugs. The bottom line here is, these plugs work and work well, if obviously, they are installed correctly I realize most of you know what these plugs do however for the few who are just learning let me take a second and explain how they work. You will put this “smart plug” in your outlet and then plug whatever appliance, (lamp, etc.), into the “smart plug”. Once you set everything set up, you will be able to turn on/off the lamp, (or whatever), through your Google/Echo app, the third party app, (which we will discuss in a second), or using Google/Amazon voice command. What if I do not have Google Home or Amazon Echo? No problem, you will be able to operate your smart plug through the third party app however you will not be able to use voice command. (Voice command, for example, is walking into a room and saying, “Google turn on the living room lights”.) Everyone still with me? Let’s start the set up. The first thing you will need to do is grab your phone or tablet and download the app that coincides with these plugs. I would like pause right here and say I absolutely HATE having to download another app. I hated to create another account with yet another password. And what I really hated was having to give my address to this app. That in itself, may be a deal breaker for many. Okay, let’s move on. A question many have is, “Why can’t I just add these plugs to my Google Home or Amazon Echo app?” Well the good news is you can, and you will, however you need to set up these plugs with a “third party app” first. Which app do I download? Is one app better than other? Well this of course is like asking do you want “diet pepsi” or “diet coke”. It’s a matter of taste. I have Google Home and from what I have read the “Smart Life” app works well is the one I am suggesting today. The app will ask you for your wifi password along with some other bits of info. Don’t forget to put your password for this app in a safe place with your other passwords. Once downloaded you are ready to go. You will notice a “power button” on the side of the plug. Do not touch that button. Plug your “Smart Plug” into an outlet. In a few seconds the power button should start flashing in blue. If yours does not start flashing blue simply press the power button. If someday down the road you decide to relocate your smart plug, (let’s say you no longer need it to operate your lamp and therefore you now want it to operate your Palm Tree with lights in your Sun Room, lol), you will need to press the power button for approximately five seconds until it starts flashing blue again. This procedure “resets the smart plug”. Now grab your phone, open the app, and follow the instructions. This will take a few seconds to so set up but it’s quick and painless. It’s basically reading the plug via your wifi and adding it to your app. You will also have the opportunity to “name” the appliance. For example, I named the lights in my Game Room as “Game Lights” so when we enter the Game Room all we need to say is “Hey Google turn on the Game Lights”. The Smart Life app will allow you to turn on and off the appliance and, if you so desire, “schedule” times. For example, if you want your Aquarium light to come on at 7 AM and turn off at 7 PM you can easily make that happen. This next step sounds so “simple” it’s silly, yet many forget to do this. It is imperative you turn the appliance ON before plugging it into the smart plug. The smart plug can only turn on and off an appliance which has been plugged in the “on position”. So before plugging the appliance into the smart plug, plug it in an old fashioned outlet and be sure it is on. Next you will want to intergrade it with your Google Home/Amazon Echo. It is during this stage many pull their hair out. Let’s make sure you are not one of them. You will now open your Google Home app, for example, and “add device”. Your “smart plug” does not automatically add to your Google/Amazon. (I guess the “smart plug” isn’t that “smart”.) Just to be clear, and as another example, I have a Google Home Mini in my Game Room. So in the Google Home App I entered the “game lights” in this room. Here is where most make a bad turn. The name on your plugs say “Gosund”. Do not look for “Gosund”, look for the “Smart Life app”. In a couple of clicks you will be done. One more note. When you install the second plug and set that one up in Google/Amazon, the name “Smart Plug” will be at the top of the list and not in the alphabetical order as it was the first time. In theory they put it at the top of the list so you can find it easier. If everything went well, and I know it will, you will be on your way and be laughing at all the people that turn their lamp on the old fashioned way, by simple turning the switch, lol!!! I want to assure you these units work. They install easily and quickly especially if you take your time and follow the instructions. By the second plug you won’t even need instructions. Another feature I like about these units is, when/if you have a power outage these plugs will reset themselves and go right back on line. I unplugged a smart plug for a while and plugged it back in with no problems. Before I end I would like to clear up any confusion about the “size” of these plugs. You will be able to plug a “smart plug” and a regular plug in the same double outlet. However, you will not be able to plug two “smart plugs” into the same outlet. There are smart plugs on the market that allow you to plug two into one outlet. I have heard some have had issues with their plugs a year down the road. I want to make it abundantly clear, if this happens I will update this review and demand a refund. I am certainly not going to do all this work and spend my hard-earned money for something that lasts only year. Let’s hope that’s not the case because these plugs are truly awesome. So place your order and plug your margarita machine in to your smart plug so you can say, “Hey Google make me another margarita!” Read more

Review:I needed some new timers for ones I had that were worn out. I decided to look at smart timers and decided to try a box of 4 of these because I have most of our lights on timers in the house. I got them this afternoon and had them all set up in about 10-15 minutes. So here I am to buy more and leave my review. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed in, is that I can not put two in one outlet. I marked off one star for that, because it sort of implies in the listing that I can use two. I will add a photo to show how they fit. I have standard outlets and can only fit one. That said, there is room to plug something else into the other outlet. It's not generally a big deal for me, because most of our rooms have one side on a wall switch. Speaking of wall switches I am going to see if they have wall switches that go with this system, because the app sort of implies that there are other things besides just these plug in outlet things. So all you have to do is plug it in. Most of mine turned on when I plugged them in. You could see a green light come on and start flashing. If it does not come on then push and hold the button and they turn on and start blinking. The blinking lets you know you are ready to connect it to your wifi. Once I had the app open I clicked to add one, and then I saw my wifi name right there ...enter password and in seconds you are set up. The directions leave something to be desired, but the app and items are user friendly enough that you can figure out what they want you to do. The set up was easy. Then I figured out how to set a timer....again easy to figure out. I had read you could put them in a group so I did that with the first two and it was easy to add others to the same group. You can set them up in one group or more than one. It also lets you edit the name to describe the location. It also has room locations. Once you have them set up you can let them follow the timer and also you can turn them on or off individually or together in the group. You phone has to be on wifi to do the set up, but after that you can turn them on and off or change the timer from anywhere as long as you have data service. I love that I could turn our lights on before we get home or if we were gone. I am so thrilled with these timers that I ordered 4 more and I have a feeling I will be ordering more. Review:Great little smart plugs that work with alexa. If you can't get it to work, you are doing something wrong. Most of the bad reviews are people who don't understand what they are doing. Important to note, only works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If you don't know what that means, ask google. I plugged in, set up app, got working in the smart home app right away, then added the skill to Alexa, linked the accounts and voila, you can control with your voice. It's really simple and the app is nice too. Lots of features from basic timer functionality to syncing with the sunrise and sunset in your location. Most people will buy this because the Amazon smart plugs are way overpriced and they are looking for a cheaper working alternative. This is it, buy it. The four pack is a great deal. Once you can control crap with your voice, you will wonder how you ever survived before this. Read more

Review:I don’t normally write reviews but I feel on this product I must. I hesitated for weeks on which smart plug to buy based on bad reviews and incompatibility with routers. I settled and took a chance on this one. Yes it does need 2.4 MHz network and might be a little tricky to configure but if your a little tech savvy you’ll find they work. I bought 8 total to control indoor Halloween decorations and then in a few weeks Christmas decorations. I downloaded the Smart Life App for IOS and configured the Echo Dot (Alexa) with that skill. Once you figure out the network issue this works amazing. You can use Alexa to setup groups and custom name them to work with voice commands. I went with this model plug because it appears they recently upgraded the firmware. If the plug needs reprogramming just hold the plug button in for 5 seconds and it resets to factory. So far works well for me. Read more
