Review:If you need to "pin point" the read such as a small thermistor etc. The lazer spot is so off this is not the tool for you! I did not find any way to calibrate or "sight in". Used a ice cube as my test.. Read more

Review:This gun is easy to use and accurate. Just pull trigger once to activate and then point on the intended target to read . When finished set the gun down and it powers off automatically. This gun will read anything with a thermal signature. Machinery, Humans, Animals, Concrete patio. Refrigerators. Anything. I had bought other temp reading devices for CoVid related readings and ALL were inaccurate. This one by General is outstanding and would be great to point and shoot a reading on your BBQ Smoker. Cost of this is one decent brisket, do you really want to risk yo BBQ cause the smoker was too hot or cold? All joking aside. You buy this one because you are buying a good and decent tool the first time and Done. Cheers Read more

Review:I purchased this thermometer for use in my reptile breeding room. I have never used it to sense any temperatures above 110 F or below 75 F, and cannot verify any amount of accuracy for temperatures outside that range. However, it has proven accurate within 2 degrees. All readings from the Heat Seeker were taken at a distance of 12 inches from the target, measured with a measuring tape before reading the temperature. I tested the accuracy of this thermometer using sensing equipment from my chemistry lab on campus. The lab sensor was placed in my reptile breeding rack, directly against the bottom of the bins I tested. In most cases the Heat Seeker read the temperature within 1.6 degrees of the lab sensor's reading. When measuring the highest temperature, obtained by removing all substrate and liners from my breeding bins and turning the heat source up to double the normal output, the Heat Seeker read 108.1 and the lab sensor read 110.21 F. Based on that, I would say this little thermometer is certainly accurate for the uses I intended. It seems durable enough, though it does feel hollow and light. I would hesitate to test the durability by throwing it at the wall, but when dropped on my carpeted floor no negative effects were observed. As far as retaining accuracy over time, I cannot verify much. I have been using this thermometer for a couple months now, and it still reads with the same degree of accuracy it did when I first bought it. I cannot say whether it will continue to read as accurately a year or three down the road, but for now it's still doing fine. Basically, I find this thermometer to be sufficient for the uses I intend for it. If you need very precise measurements a different thermometer may prove superior, but for basic usage and specifically for gauging temperatures in reptile breeding racks, this thermometer is certainly adequate. Considering the cost and the degree of accuracy, I am satisfied with my purchase. Read more

Review:This is a good temp gun with good features. Bluetooth and an app if you want to log your readings. You can turn the laser on and off and still read temps. However, I will use it once and everytime i come back the battery is dead. It drains the battery just being in the unit. It's quite frustrating that every time I need it it is not working. Read more

Review:I've checked it against my old mercury lab thermometer (marked in fractional degrees) it's close enough. My problem is that when the device itself gets very cold, it won't power on! Los Angeles cold, not Maine or Wisconsin. Left in a car over night, (clean, dry, etc) when it's below 50F? 40F? it simply won't operate. Swapped batteries and all that. When dead, I leave it in my pocket for 20 minutes and then it works, even measuring "cold". So this is a product quality or WC issue, not a design flaw or sensor. I should have known it was too cheap to be any good. Read more

Review:The gun read 4 degrees F low right out of the box. I tested it with two mercury thermometers and another no contact thermometer. The readings were always low and between 4 and 6 degrees off. This unit gave inconsistent readings on almost every trigger pull on the same heat source and at the same distance. I tested it with our freezer as a cold source and found the same issues. Read more

Review:I'm using this to find air leaks in an older house I live in. It helps me find temperature differences in walls and under sinks where pipes are routed and not sealed. Once I find a difference, a little foam sealer around the opening stops the air. Read more

Review:Our son has been in the remote control car racing (and car bashing) hobby for a few years now, and he has learned a lot about the impact of proper gearing for runs on all different types of surfaces. When gearing up for speed runs on asphalt, it is easy to overgear which creates a lot of heat... too much without a proper cool-down period and you toast the motor (and sometime the battery and electronic speed control too). He's talked about getting a heat gun for years, and I saw this unit here with its good reviews and good price so we got it for him as a birthday gift. It really has made him happy and saved him a few bucks along the way too. Not a single motor toasted by overheating since this infrared thermometer was added to his tool box. Easy to use -- he just shoots the car motor and get an instant reading, letting him know if it need a cool down break or not. The readout is large and very easy to read. The auto-shutoff is a good feature especially for our son, since he could never remember to turn anything off as a kid (lights, TV, stereo... whatever) and I doubt much has changed since. Affordable, comfortable to hold, easy to aim, and easy to read... what more could be asked for? Highly recommended as a gift or for your own toolbox. It is kind fun just to play with... Read more
