Review:I purchased this POS as my company took over the bar sales end of our theatre after changing buildings. It was easy to learn and take people's money. It's nice looking, people are generally familiar and trusting of the hardware I have several issues. Number one, a thousand dollars should buy a lot of computer, and this machine supports very limited 3rd party accessories. Why am I limited to 300 dollar receipt printers? It's absurd. It should be a 50 dollar piece of hardware. This machine has no ability to install additional software, which means square needs to provide a plethora of printer drivers. It's not that complicated yall. Second, I don't like that it can't play music, run a foot traffic counter, or run other additional software. 1000 dollars should buy the perfect computer to run my business's front of house. A selection of additional apps would be appropriate for such an expensive device. Third, The thing has no blue tooth support. Which. Like. What is wrong with you? I have half a mind to return it and start over. Read more

Review:Our store recently moved to a larger location and we thought it was a good time to upgrade from our two iPad setup. We currently use the square Retail app that costs $60 per iPad ($120 total). We ordered two Square Registers but had to return them once we realized it only runs their regular app. I don't understand why Square makes such a good looking, and probably good performing, hardware that won't even run their premium software. Crazy. Read more

Review:I own a high-traffic artisan bakery and we used the iPad register (“Square Stand”) for about a year. We started having issues with cash drawer connectivity, and customers were regularly confused by how to use the wired chip reader. Eventually I got tired of being on call for all of the register issues our employees were experiencing. When looking for reviews, all of the positive ones I read mostly talked about how much people like the Square software, their flat fees, etc., but that’s not what I was looking for since we were already pretty deep into our relationship with Square. I wanted to know if it was worth the money to replace our iPad system with this. It was absolutely worth it. The customer display is very large, easy to read, and has a dedicated screen. The printer and cash drawer connectivity is never disrupted (no more waiting for the accessories to connect after I wake the iPad up!). The employee side is much larger than the iPad, and has more easily accessible additional pages for the Item Grid. It doesn’t need to be mounted with a screw or adhesive like the iPad stand, since it is very bottom-heavy and sturdy. It’s fast, sleek, and very attractive. Customers love the look of it, and though it may seem silly we have a lot of customers who think it’s very fancy and high-tech. It has a very small footprint, and lowered the amount of stray cables. I’m a huge stickler for cable management, and this thing is a dream come true. The ONLY thing I can find wrong with it is that, while the employee screen can be tilted, the customer screen cannot. So if your register counter is low, the customer screen may be hard to see since it’s almost vertical. However, you can very easily disconnect the entire customer screen (which is also the card reader) and tether it with a thoughtfully designed USB connection. We still keep the display connected to the main register unit, but the other option is available if we ever need it. In short, if you can afford it, you should definitely make this upgrade. The convenience, design, and reliability is worth every penny. Read more

Review:This register is a great system for speeding up the checkout process for our customers. The touch display allowed you to configure the screen any way you would like to give you the flexibility to have the most frequently purchased products easily accessible on the home screen. The biggest part of the system that we love the most is the customer facing screen that shows the customer each item as it is being rung up, as well as the total for the purchase. It is integrated with all forms of payment, right in the same device. Very slick! We initially had a bit of trouble hooking it up to the WiFi in a hotel for an event at which we were selling goods. The register doesn't have a built in web browser, so there is no way to authenticate to any network that requires you to visit a login screen before going online (to enter a guest password or accept terms and conditions). We needed to get the hotel network people to add the register as an approved device on the network before it would work. Took us about an hour to figure that out. On networks that wouldn't require that extra authentication (which is normally the case at our office), the system works as you'd expect. Read more

Review:Works 100% of the time, as opposed to the Square app on my iPad Pro. Lots of compliments from my clients. Took less than five minutes from box to first use. Read more

Review:Only problem is it has frozen on us a couple times and there isn’t a hard reset. Only way to unfreeze it is to unplug it from the wall. That’s awkward when you are ringing up a customer and they are unsure if the payment was processed or not. The operating system isn’t quite as good as what they offer for iPads and iPhones where you can easily just close the app and reopen it. Read more
