Review:First of all this does appear to "work" -- at least in languages it supports. That's why I gave it two stars. It claims to support 70 languages and perhaps it does (many are variations of English, and the languages are difficult to scroll through because they A: are not in alphabetical order (!) and B: tend to "select:" with even the slightest variation in pressure so that you end up selecting a language when you're just trying to scroll down). It does not seem to support Mandarin Chinese, even though the seller "confirmed" that it does and this is specifically what i needed it for for my next trip. If so it's not listed as an option. Signing into wifi is ridiculously tedious, almost laughable. The process involves a version of that old fashioned number = letter function that we used to use to send text messages. But it's worse than that. If you click on the eye icon to make sure you're typing the correct password, it closed the window and refreshes, forcing you to start all over again. The biggest problem with this unit, is that it will not work in any sort of 2-step wifi-login situation. Like at an airport, in a hotel or restaurant, on a plane or train, in a public place that requires you to log in. In other words, just about any place a traveler would need something like this. If you're at HOME on your own wifi, or are planning to carry a wifi hotspot with you, there shouldn't be a problem. But since this unit is specifically geared for world travelers, that doesn't make sense. (There's also no option to add a foreign sim card, which might have resolved that problem). I really wanted to love this unit. It does have some nice advantages. It is sleek and fits well in your hand, and does seem to work as far as providing fairly instantaneous translations. But for what i need it for and what I assume most people would need it for, it totally misses the mark. UPDATE: 5 days into my trip to China, the unit stopped charging. I noticed the supplied power cord was pretty wobbly when I tried to insert it into the port. It just wouldn't "grab." I tried several other charging cords, which all did the same thing. On closer inspection, it looks like a piece of the connector inside the charging port is either loose or missing. I won't be able to return the unit when get home (5 months from now) because by that time it will have been well past Amazon's return window. This was an expensive piece of equipment that was made cheaply and could have been so much better. At this point I'm pretty much stuck with a non-functioning language translator that wasn't nearly as good as it should have been in the first place. I got 5 days' use out this and am now forced to see if i can locate another (better) one on foreign soil. Read more

Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I highly recommend this! It works great. The instructions are easy to follow. For sure it is not as smart as our human, so I have to follow the instructions and speak it slowly and clear. It is a great tool. It is small. It is very easy to carry. Took a bit to figure out the best way to use it. But, I did it. In the right setting, I can have an actual two way conversation with someone who speaks spanish, russian, chinese, vietnamese, and many more...That is an amazing tool! With the translator, my mom say Chinese, it will translate to Engligh, I follow it and repeat, it will translate back to Chinese, that way my mom will know whether you pronounce it right or not. It's a tool to learn English too. Read more

Review:I purchased the unit. When it arrived I noticed it was packaged very well. It came with 2 charging cords and an instruction pamphlet. Upon reading it I noticed many words misspelled. Sentences trying to explain the operation were poorly written by someone that did not know much about the English language, When we tried to use it we had a hard time signing in with our wifi. We then tried to scroll to the various programmed languages and it would automatically go back to the top of the list. Once we got the languages in place English to Spanish it would not record anything. We tried to record various words in both languages but no luck. I then called Amazon to get a return label. After I got everything packed up to send back, the company emailed me wanting to try getting it operational and convinced me to get it unpacked after that I never heard back from them. I sent it back to Amazon. Do not purchase this item it is very poorly made. We gave it every opportunity to work but you cannot turn junk into something good. Read more

Review:I would say that this translator is better than others, I bought other unit, like SSK, but they can’t use very well.Owing to the need for my work, I go to Asian countries a lot. Different from Europeans, Asians generally can not speak English. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to my work and life. Although I have translators most of the time at work, they cannot accompany me 24 hours a day. The instructions are easy to follow. For sure it is not as smart as our human, so I have to follow the instructions and speak it slowly and clear. It is a great tool. It is small. It is very easy to carry. Awesome little tool. Therefore, I often face the embarrassing situation that I can't understand the talk. I knew this device from my colleague and couldn't wait to buy it. The translator device has really helped me a lot and solved my problem. And that is why I recommend it. Read more

Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. After I gave away my other voice translator, which I believe is the same one (just different colour), to my grandparents, I decided to get myself another one as it was so useful during my Quebec trip. The only difference I see with this one is the colour, my old one was white/gold, and this one is matte black, which looks so much cooler. The features/functionalities are exactly the same, very fast and accurate translation, supports many language and super user friendly user interface. I am not sure why they included 2 sets of cables however, well, good for me I guess, one for travel, one to add to my charging cable collection. Very happy with the purchase! Read more

Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My children are trying to learn speak and write in Spanish and this has been of good help. They speak in one language and it gives them the translation in the other language. They particularly appreciate the fact that the device provides the written version of what they have said. I also speak several language and have tested this device and find it mostly accurate, you just need to speak slowly. Apart from that, we travel a lot and I appreciate the fact that this device supports translation between so many languages. The only thing that I would have liked changed is the fact that it requires a Wi-Fi to function which means that you cannot use it outside where there is no Wi-Fi, but I understand that this is necessary in order to keep the device always up to date. Review:This device is really a good companion when traveling, i use english and spanish translator for now and it was very accurate. The device is not too big and has a slim body, so fit perfectly in my back pocket. There is not too much button, so very easy to use. Connection to home wifi is very easy. For public or hotel wifi, you need a little trick to get it to work, you have to connect your phone or tablet to the wifi and share wifi with the device, otherwise it doesn't connect, because without wifi, you can't get translation. The one thing that would be great to improve is the touch screen, i find it a little bit difficult to reach to desire language when scrolling because it always choose another language and I have to restart the scrolling everytime, but I finally found that if one finger doesn't leave the screen when scrolling it work better, but you have to use 2 fingers, It still a very good travel companion and I don't travel without it. Review:This little translator is everything you need if you are visiting any foreign country. It recognizes my voice very effectively and translate it in no time. This is the best device when it comes to translation and its comparable with the google translator. There are many different languages available. The touch screen is also good enough. The only thing to improve is it should work offline without the wifi connection. Overall a thumbs up! Read more

Review:Your browser does not support HTML5 video. My last trip to Hong Kong would had been so much easier if I had this! I wasn't even aware that translating devices were available before starting to shop for my next trip. It took a while to charge when I wanted to used it for the first time, but now that it's full, the battery life seems pretty good. It was also easy to set up, I honestly didn't even open the instructions booklet that was included in the box. I tested it at home to see if it's really accurate by going from french to english. I was pleasantly surprised. There wasn't any lag and everything it translated was correct. Read more
