Review:I consider myself somewhat a connoisseur of wireless sport headphones both on-ear and over-ear given my timeline in purchases and experience. With the Backbeat Fit 6100 I went into these very open minded and eager to try given this was my very first Plantronics brand purchase. I really, really, reeeeaaaallly wanted to like, better yet LOVE these sport headphones. The design is impressive (I purchased the Camo flavor), I love gesture control support, and Plantronics are a very credible company. However, I must admit my disappointment. Three (3) things that really let me down are the FIT, CONTROLS, and most importantly SOUND VOLUME……... For the FIT, well they are quite comfortable when worn and the ear cushions sit plush against my head, but they allow too much wiggle room and play, even when stretching the draw cord which they claim gives stability when I am ready to get into a Beast Mode high movement workout. For the CONTROLS, this was hit or miss. Moreso when switching between the awareness mode and play/pause/skip functions. In the Backbeat app you can assign when switching to awareness mode the music would pause (which is a fantastic feature). However, this control feature didn't work for much of the time in my testing. Also, there were delays when tapping once to pause music which was annoying. For the SOUND VOLUME, this was the complete FAIL for me. The headphones simply DO NOT get loud. Of course, this is all subjective to the user but as many other user reviews state the exact same thing. If you are looking for that hard hitting, high volume sound to get you juiced up during your gym time these won't deliver that. I would describe the sound profile as very soft even when switching between the 3 EQ's of Signature Balanced, Bright, & Bass. In conclusion, as I stated earlier, I wanted to love this terribly and make these my "end all be all" for sport fitness headphones during my gym time but they just don't deliver. I have these paired to my Samsung Galaxy Note10+ with the latest and greatest specs and Bluetooth 5.0. So, do understand that I am using a up to date device in my testing. Unfortunately, they do deliver well to compete in the sport headphones arena. I reached out to Plantronics support to provide them with my feedback. Hopefully, they will review it and consider some sort of firmware upgrade to enhance the sound EQ profile and controls at best. If this happens, well I won’t be around to test since I will be returning these. Read more

Review:I have had these headphones for about a month, and I am content with my purchase. I was looking for sweat/water resistant, over-ear headphones to use for workouts without much concern for premium sound quality (the sound quality on my Bose SoundSport wireless earbuds is better). For $99, the value is better than OK. I have not tried cheaper over-ear headphones but I think these would have been a better buy in the $79 to $89. PROS -They stay comfortable throughout my workouts, which usually last about an hour. I do not have issues with them sliding off nor do I have issues with my ears overheating (if that is a thing that can happen with over-ear headphones.) Plus, they stay relatively dry and ear easy to wipe off. -The ear cups fold inwards to make them more compact for storage and transport. When folded, they fit well in an inner pocket in my drawstring backpack. -I have not yet tested the full extent of the battery life but they can easily go a week (3 to 4 workouts) without being charged. -They get loud enough to drown out normal gym sounds in addition to the music being played over the PA system. I read some comments stating that the sound volume is weak but there is no way I could have these on my ears at full volume without ending up with some hearing issues. -There is a feature called OpenMic that allows you to let surrounding sound in. So, instead of taking your headphones off or using the volume control to turn music down, you can hit a button to hear someone talking to you. -The touch controls make it easy to adjust the volume, pause/play music, and go to the next track. CONS -The touch controls make it easy to accidentally adjust the volume, pause/play music, and go to the next track. Additionally, when trying to press the button to use OpenMic, you can end up accidentally changing the volume or stopping the music. -If I am doing an exercise that requires lying down then there seems to be a change in sound quality. OTHER STUFF -I downloaded two other apps before I found the correct one. The correct app is dependent on what model of headphones you have. I am not deducting starts for that because I probably should have just paid more attention to start with, but it was an annoying process. Read more

Review:Great idea in theory but not so great in practice. They're good for everyday headphones is you're going to wear them at work or roaming about, but if you're going to go hard in the gym these probably won't cut it for you. The touch controls could certainly use some more precision and if I needed to talk to someone I ended up just taking them off my ears. Basically they were no better than $50 headphones from an outlet store. I'm guessing that if you're reading this review you're looking to invest in a nice new toy that gives you great sound quality, strong base, and simple controls when you're kinetic and sweaty. Give a different model a try. Read more

Review:I've had trouble with other bluetooth headphones in that during exercises like GHR or bench press, they'd slip off. The vibrations from deadlifts and barbell rows also had a tendency to shake them off. Add sweat to that, and it becomes very challenging for a headphone to stick to your head. For commuting, I prefer to use IEMs, but I don't like using those at the gym since they would become infused with sweat and would be a chore to put in and take out. I decided to go for regular headphones, closed-back for sound isolation and bluetooth as wires are a pain. After a lot of research, the only headphones that met these requirements, with an emphasis on staying put on the head while lifting, seemed to be Plantronics BackBeat Fit 6100 and JBL UA Sport. The UA was considerably more expensive, and it has a serious flaw in that the ear cushions soak up the sweat. While they are washable, reviewers complained that they weren't able to get rid of the smell of sweat from them. The BackBeat have more conventional ear cushions that aren't as breathable, but they don't soak up the sweat and can be simply wiped clean. I'm glad I chose the BackBeat as it seems like a perfect fit for my usecase. It pretty much never shifts around when the headband strap is tightened, even when drenched in sweat. Most of the pressure is on the top of the head instead of the ears, so it is quite comfortable to wear for long periods, hence I always leave the strap tightened. Other features of the headphone are less important to me, unless something is so bad it's unusable. Luckily it's a good all-rounder. Bluetooth 5.0 support is great, wireless range is decent, and I've never had trouble connecting to it. It's mostly stable, and I only get a sudden disconnect while listening maybe once a month. Battery life is more than enough. It doesn't support LDAC or aptX, so you're stuck with AAC (which is good enough). The microphone is pretty bad, and awareness mode is a gimmick you'll never use (just take the headphone off). The touch controls work well, even with sweat or chalk on your hands, although you'll accidentally activate them now and then when doing exercises like OHP (only a minor annoyance). I find it sounds best with bass-driven electronic music or hiphop, and it's pretty unforgiving of lofi recordings like indie or shoegaze. The sound quality is nothing special, but still very decent for a workout headphone. Read more

Review:Most comfortable headphones I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot!) Sound is good, clear and loud. Although it could be a bit crispier. Really easy to set up and use. I use them for the gym, so are 10/10 for working out. Snug tight fit...would definitely recommend for this primary use Read more
