Review:As I’ve been rounding out my studio video lighting, I bought the 100W GVM to be a second bi-color addition. I already have the Weeylite Ninja 400 and two GVM 80W lights. I loved the form factor, brightness, and simplicity of those 80W daylight balanced lights and looked forward to being able to dial in color temperature on a second 100W+ studio light. Note that in my photos above, I’ll include the 80W GVM lights for comparison. To start with, the construction is similar to the other GVM 80W lights and the mounting mechanism to attach it to the light stand looks identical. Sturdy enough for light Bowens-mount attachments like the included reflector dish, but I found that heavy monstrous softboxes like the 60” Neewer tend to sag a bit. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means, but it takes a bit more fiddling to get the alignment perfect with heavy, huge, attachments. I like that the controller and AC adapter are integrated into the light making it a simple, compact setup. I don’t need to worry about a dangling controller and big power brick between the light and the wall, making the setup much more streamlined. That (and the included carrying case) makes this an easy light to use for location shoots. The included cable is 12-15 feet long and really convenient to use without extra extensions or bulky adapters. The controller itself is simple and easy to use. It has a power rocker switch, two knobs (one for intensity/brightness, one for color temperature), up/down arrows, and mode. The up/down and mode buttons are used for wirelessly linking multiple lights and controlling them together on various channels. The built-in display is bright and clearly indicates intensity percentage, color temp in Kelvin, mode (master/slave), and channel. Intensity can be controlled from 1-100% color temperature can be controlled from 3200-5600K in 100 Kelvin increments. You can also control the light with an app (iOS and Android) over Wifi. Like with other light apps I’ve used like the Weeylite, the app is installed app directly from an APK rather than through a certified app store. I always am a little nervous about that, but I didn’t have any issues. The app is extremely simple and easy to use. Simply connect to the Wifi network the light created and enter the password. In the app, you can control brightness, color temp, and channel. If I had a bigger studio, I’m sure I’d use the app more, but for me, the controller is the easiest to use. Amazon asked me to rate remote control from 1 to 5 stars. To be clear, a physical remote control is not included. I gave 5 stars for the ability to control remotely over Wifi with the app. Fan noise is acceptable at max brightness. It isn’t as quiet as the GVM 80W or the Weeylite Ninja 400 but doesn’t seem very loud to me and I don’t notice it getting picked up in my videos. As for brightness, my perception is that it is about equal to slightly lower than the GVM 80W daylight balanced lights. It is rated at 3500 lux at 1m vs the 80W rated at 3100 lux at 1m, but I perceived it as slightly dimmer with both lights at 100%. I tried to capture that in the photos above. Those little 80W lights pack a punch for their size and price! Since I have a very bright key light, I don’t need maximum brightness with this light and it fits my needs as a fill, back, or accent light. Regardless, I love the high CRI of 97+ on this light which gives great color reproduction. It looks really good! I’ve purchased many lights in the last few months as I’ve been outfitting my studio and I’m impressed with the quality and value this light and the 80W GVM lights offer. There are a lot of options and GVM is definitely keeping up and offering some top value in this space. The bi-color feature gives me the flexibility to dial things in depending on what I need for the shot. In summary, I really appreciate the simplicity and light-weight attributes of this light. It’s a great quality, great value light for the money, and see myself using it a lot! I recommend! Read more

Review:The media could not be loaded. This is the simplest studio light I have ever owned, period. So simple, just plug and good to go. I love the physical rotating control knobs. For the price, nicely build and very handy light. I am planning to use for my product photography studio and this is my third light in this regard. It is 100W, which is Bi-color and very bright light. It is a COB (Chip on board) light. Bowen's mount means you have a galaxy of diferrent accessories to get most out of this light. Other than easy to use controls, you have an option of using mobile app. GVM never disappointed me in the future and this light isn't an exception. If you are content creator or videographer then you can't beat this price and quality in this light. Read more

Review:After borrowing equipment from school for the longest time I finally decided to start building my personal equipment and this is my second set of lights. The light was super easy to assemble and put together. I quite enjoy that the light is pretty light, compact, and easy to transport from place to place. The light is fairly powerful and good quality. The fact that I can set it up and control it with the app, without having to move the light and potentially ruining the angle in which the light hits my setup is perfect and quite the game changer for me. Review:I love this light. Great quality, solid, works fantastic. Color temp and brightness are adjustable via knobs on the back of the light. Very quiet fan runs at bright settings, but fan speed is variable and as you turn down the brightness the fan slows/quiets (which to be clear is a quiet fan and acceptable at full brightness, but it is a noise to consider). The app is okay but not super reliable and requires you to connect to a wifi network that the light creates. It's pretty simple, but I had issues with an adjustment that I made with the app "sticking" as the light would often default back to the settings I had set with the knobs. I'd imagine that a software update could improve that and either way it wouldn't stop me (or even cause hesitation) in buying this light again. I think it's a great value and it's working great as my primary light. Read more

Review:The media could not be loaded. I’ve been on the lookout for a budget friendly video light to add to my YouTube studio. I needed a light that could work as a good key light, hair light, or product light. After doing some research for myself, I landed on GVM. GVM produces some of the best video lights on the market when you compare their features and price with other light manufacturers. I ended up getting the GVM-100W Bi-Color Led light. This light has a ton of features at a very friendly price. The GVM-100W is a COB (chip on board) light that will adjust from 3200 – 5600 Kelvin. You also have the ability to adjust the lights intensity from 10% to 100%. Surprisingly, considering its price, it is one of the more color accurate lights in its class. You’ll be able to get a professional looking video without breaking the bank. For the price, the build quality is acceptable, and it actually outperforms more expensive lights in a number of categories. Some Pros: - Already mentioned but very color accurate - Comes with an industry standard Bowens Mount for attaching modifiers - App available for light control - Bi-Color adjustable from 3200 – 5600 Kelvin - Budget friendly Some Cons: - Doesn’t support battery operation (not a con for many, including me) - Fan noise is noticeable past about 50% brightness * This can be managed by placing the light away from your audio source - No remote (you can however control it with an App) Given all the above I'm more than happy with the performance I've been able to get out of this GVM LED light.
